fave of 08::double duty broach

When Claire was given her grandmother’s broach last minute, she found the perfect place for the “something old” on her bouquet handle.

Then later, in lieu of the orchids we had planned on putting in her hair to replace her veil, we opted to make use of the broach again and pin it into her hair for a little extra bling at the reception!  Such a great use of “something old” that lasted all day!

There are two things I love in this scenario! First, I love incorporating sentimental things into weddings. Second, I love finding spur of the moment ways to be creative!

change is good!

As you can probably tell by the less than lengthy posting lately, 2009 is shaping up to be a very busy year for Stella Event Design and I’m excited to share some of the changes around here!

Big Change #1: After 2 years of balancing a full-time job in corporate America and my business, in 2009 I’m running Stella Event Design full-time, and focusing on building this business and giving our wonderful couples an amazing level of service. This is pretty much a dream come true, and definitely an exciting time at Stella Event Design!

Change #2: We’re getting a makeover! The logo is a sneak peak, and you’ll see our new look start to make its way throughout our website and blog! I’m also excited to spice up the blog soon with new features, more vendor spotlights, giveaways and more! I also look forward to sharing more about what I do here and what’s going on with the business, because I know there are a lot of gals (and guys) out there who are curious about working in this industry! So stay tuned, I promise it won’t be this sparse around here for long!

So, if I’ve gone from 1 job to 2, then why the craziness around here? I’m glad you asked! Besides working on all of our upcoming 2009 weddings, at the end of this month we’re participating in our first bridal show!  And, being our first show, it means a whole lot of work designing our booth from scratch! Of course, being the perfectionist that I am, I’m working like a crazy person to get the booth just right for our debut! So stay tuned and I’ll be sharing more details soon!

*Thanks to Tara at La Stellina Studios in Grand Rapids for our new logo design—we love it! You can contact Tara at lastellinastudio@gmail.com. Check out our previous post about La Stellina’s invitation designs here!

ever after wedding market

(Ever After Wedding Market)

If you’re looking for some fun and unique invitations, accessories and bridal party gifts for your wedding, then you have a new fun place to shop! Check out Ever After Wedding Market on 1000 Markets. It’s a lot like Etsy, but what I love about it is that everything is grouped into specific “Markets,” and everything in the Ever After Market is specifically for weddings!

And while you’re browsing 1000 Markets, check out the Luxe Market, too! You won’t be disappointed by all the pretty things–I had to tear myself away! Happy Shopping!

mark your calendar for wedding world 2009

It’s not too often you can talk to all of the area’s top wedding vendors in one place, so if you’re planning a wedding, then mark your calendar for January 31st for Wedding World 2009!

The bridal expo will be held at Upton Hall at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor from 12:00-3:00, with the fashion show to follow at 3:15! This will be our first bridal show and we’re excited to get to meet with so many brides, so be sure to stop by!

vendor meet-up::gregg rizzo photography

(All photos by Gregg Rizzo, click to enlarge)

I love meeting with new vendors and getting to know all of the local people who work in the wedding industry. I feel like no matter how many lunch meetngs I have I can never meeting everyone!

Yesterday I got the chance to sit down with Gregg Rizzo of Creative Design Studios, a lifestyle and wedding photographer located here in St. Joseph. Gregg also does a lot of photography work for Shore and Shore Bride magazine, as well as Blue Star Highway, and can be found at a lot of local events!

Check out Greggs website for more info!

going green with style

When looking for fun details to incorporate into your wedding, don’t limit yourself by sticking to just items marketed specifically for weddings. Mostly, because if you think outside of the box, and look outside of the standard wedding fare, you’ll find some really fun ideas!

I was talking to a local photographer the other day, who pointed me to LOKTAH. This company makes these fabulous eco-friendly cases. They would be absolutely wonderful for cd favors! You could also DIY these, and tweak it a little to make it the perfect menu card holder, or out of town guest packet! We thought of so many ways to utilize these for weddings—yes, your vendors really do have weddings on the brain 24/7!

Check out the LOKTAH website for all the details and more beautiful print options!
